Akhand Paath Sahib

A continuous reading of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji for a duration of 48 hours is known as an Akhand Paath. These recitations are held to commemorate various events such as birthdays, funerals, anniversaries, and significant achievements.

When a family wishes to undertake the commitment of listening to the entirety of Gurbani from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Gurdwara Sahib provides accommodations and assigns a Granthi Singh (preacher) to facilitate this sacred endeavor.

The Akhand Paath lasts for 48 hours until it is fully completed. Throughout this time, family members engage in listening to Gurbani, participating in Kirtan, and performing sewa (service) in the Langar (community kitchen).

Sehaj Paath Sahib

A non-linear reading of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji typically requires approximately five days to complete a Sehaj Paath, although the duration may extend based on the family’s preferences.

The practice of engaging in Sehaj Paath involves the deliberate and measured reading of Gurbani from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, characterized by frequent pauses. Many Sikh families typically have a copy of the Guru Granth Sahib in their residences and periodically undertake Sehaj Paath at home.

However, if time constraints prevent them from doing so, Gurdwara Sahib provides facilities and appoints a Granthi Singh (preacher) to conduct Sehaj Paath upon the families’ request.

Duration: 5 Days – 15 Days + Other Program
